hmm, no update lately
Jun. 29th, 2006 10:10 amHey hey ho ho its off to england we go.
So, my work permit came in yesterday. Which means that I just need to get my visa, and then I will be allowed to be hired by the UK subsidiary of my employer. Given the lateness here, we're probably going to head over in mid-august.
My history of having a charmed life sees me through yet again; the day I went in to talk with work about my moving over, they had started interviewing candidates for an equivalent job to mine in the EMEA theatre, as my counterpart is about to switch jobs. So, after a mild amount of bureaucratic wrangling, here we are.
Of course, there's been all sorts of craziness associated with the fact that I couldn't get an offer letter from the UK office until I got the work permit, so there's been a bit of uncertainty. Also, having one's salary translated into pounds is...unpleasant at this exchange rate. Ah well. At least I'll have a car allowance (go mini!). And, you know, a job, rather than relying on B's minimal fellowship grant.
At any rate, we'll be living in Oxford, for those looking for crash space or an excuse to visit expat friends. Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah
